Designing Identities Conference

As part of the collaborative international project co-funded by the European Union, focusing on equitable and inclusive education as well as sustainable learning – Erasmus Plus InEqSL – a multidisciplinary international conference, "DESIGNING IDENTITIES," was held at SARVAJANIK UNIVERSITY from 25th through 27th February, 2026.

It featured remarkable keynote addresses by distinguished international guests – Ms. Rensje Teerink, Mr. Giuseppe Savino from Belgium,, Prof. Cristina Campian, Prof. Serban Tiganas, Prof. Silivan Valentin Moldovan and , Prof. Ioana Moldovan from the Technical University of Cluj Napoca, and Ms. Esther Knapen. from the Netherlands. These impressive presentations, along with the Project Presentation by the Project Head & LEAR for Sarvajanik University, Prof. Persi Engineer, , formed the backbone for the various sessions across the three tracks of the Conference – “Socio-cultural Praxis”, “Science, Technology & Media”, and “Business, Management & Education.”

The first two days of Research Paper Presentations highlighted compelling, niche, and innovative ideas, including the influence of cultural integration on Art & Architecture and community longevity, diversity as identity, services as origins of design, productivity aligned with Gen Z identities for better job prospects and engagement, and in areas concerning object & collective memory, ephemeral spaces, urban mobility, smart cities, healthcare infrastructure, waste management, social technology, and human resources, among others.

Day Three began with an impactful address by Prof. Persi Engineer discussing the conference and its role within Project Ineq- SL, followed by insights into key project findings shared by Prof. Joaquin Roca Gonzalez and , Prof. Francisca Rosique Contreras of UPCT, who respectively focused on Improving Systems for true equity and accessibility, and on Collaborative Growth to promote inclusivity. Ms. Andra Mihelsone of RTU emphasised the urgent need to establish genuine autonomy for marginalized individuals through collaborations with various government- funded and non- governmental organizations. The day culminated in panel discussions on the conference outcomes and how Project InEq-SL benefited from this important platform for not only dissemination but also for fostering future collaborations among various national and international institutions to strengthen and safeguard higher education in India in the long run.
